GROSSET0, ITALY--The Montepaschi Grosseto Warriors reached an agreement with Dominican catcher Kelly Ramos for the 2010 Italian Baseball League campaign. The signing of Ramos marks the first offseason transaction this Fall.
Ramos previously had a two year stint with Grosseto for the 2007 and 2008 seasons.
The Warriors front office noted its satisfaction with the acquisition of Ramos, "We are very happy to get him (Ramos) again. He is one of the best at the position and he can make his presence felt at the plate, too," said general manager Giuseppe Retali.
With the signing of Ramos, Grosseto fills its first of three slots dedicated to foreign players.
The Warriors front office is also in talks with foreign pitcher Juan Figueroa, but no deal has yet been reached.
The Warriors have also expressed interest in Jeff Farnsworth, who last year played in Netttuno.
On the Italian market, Retali conveyed the Warriors have intentions on trying to re-sign infiedler Luca Bischeri.
